May is the single best month to visit Disney World and Universal Orlando. LOW crowd levels, comfortable pre-summer weather, and manageable conditions make it the top recommendation for most families.
| Week | Dates | Crowd Level | Reason | Tip |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | May 1-9 | Low 4 | Early May | Schools still in session in most states. Excellent conditions. |
| Week 2 | May 10-16 | Low 3 | Mid-May best | The single best week of May. Potentially the best of the whole year. |
| Week 3 | May 17-23 | Low 3 | Late May pre-holiday | Still very good. Some graduation travel begins but impact is minimal. |
| Week 4 | May 24-31 | High 8 | Memorial Day | Memorial Day weekend surges to HIGH. Parks jam-packed May 23-26. Avoid. |
All parks are excellent in May. Magic Kingdom sees the biggest benefit - a LOW crowd day at Magic Kingdom means riding TRON and Seven Dwarfs back-to-back with minimal waits. Hollywood Studios in May is also exceptional.
May 10-23 is arguably the best stretch of 2026. Two consecutive LOW weeks with weather that is warm but not yet oppressively hot. This is the sweet spot.
Avoid Memorial Day weekend (May 23-26). The single spike in an otherwise excellent month. Crowds jump from LOW to HIGH overnight.
May is the best month to bring toddlers. Shorter lines, manageable temperatures, and lower stress across the board. Little ones will have the most magical experience in May.
